Meet Cody Smith: High School Math & Science Tutor.
I am a Virginia native and a passionate student of math. I have tutored for three years at the University of Virginia, where I received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. I also served as a graduate teaching assistant in Economics for three years at Washington University in St. Louis, where I received a Masters in Economics. I currently work as a software engineer based in Arlington, VA.
As a tutor, I encourage deep learning by the student, ensuring they understand the concepts thoroughly and feel confident to ace their next exam. I let the student work the problem out independently and intervene with guidance and short lessons. If I notice the student is struggling with a particular concept, I will provide additional instruction and support. I view math problems as fun, interesting puzzles that can always be broken down and solved with the right tools and knowledge.
