Emily Gwynn Turner

English Tutor & Essay Specialist

Meet Emily Gwynn Turner:

English & Writing Expert.

Always on a quest to examine and enrich the human mind, I work in clinical neuroscience research. Since 2015, I have taught alternative education programs one-on-one or in the classroom through Little Lights Urban Ministry, Top Score Education, and Virginia Tech’s Thinkabit Lab. A DC Native, I attended Georgetown Visitation before majoring in History at Villanova (‘10).

My teaching aims to develop attentional control, adaptivity, and self-trust in order to achieve student-driven goals. My students feel both empowered and comfortable as they implement evidence-based strategies that work. Not long into our relationship, my students recognize and remember the gifts they possess and where they yearn to apply them.

Story

Georgetown Visitation

I attended Georgetown Visitation on a full scholarship and commuted 2 hours a day to/from school. As a result, extracurriculars were difficult for me to access. I did, however, tutor young women of color on weekends through the “Saturday School” program and worked on numerous community service projects.
