Jarryd Horn

Math & Science Tutor

Meet Jarryd Horn:

Physics Ph.D. Candidate.

I am a physics Ph.D. candidate at the University of Maryland at College Park, studying unconventional superconductivity. As an undergraduate, I tutored math and physics starting in 2017. In addition to my undergraduate tutoring experience, I have served as a teaching assistant at UMD in the physics department.

As a tutor, I try my best to probe a student’s current level of understanding and show how to leverage it to solve new, less familiar concepts. In mathematics, I’ve achieved this with students by strategically dissecting examples to help students build pathways and techniques for themselves that naturally conform to their thought patterns. In addition, I try to maintain a calm and focused atmosphere conducive to how one should naturally approach problems, only with gentle guidance from someone with expert knowledge of the subject.
