High School Math Specialist
I am a former middle and high school math teacher with more than ten years of classroom teaching experience and have taught all high school math courses through AP Calculus BC. I am currently pursuing my Ph.D. (ABD) in Educational Technology while working as a full-time professional high school and college math tutor. My work towards AP Calculus certification with the CollegeBoard helped me to more acutely understand the test formatting and how to prepare my students.
Teaching has always come naturally to me, and I couldn’t imagine working in any other profession. Tutoring, or teaching, should be focused on finding the best way to reach a student. Every child learns differently, and the content won’t stick if the delivery isn’t right. My background in teaching has shown me the importance of taking time to listen to the student and not insisting they learn the content the way I would. My primary goal as an instructor is not to lecture but to help students develop the confidence and skills needed to complete work independently.

College, for me, was mostly about traveling – as a student from Hawaii living in Montreal. Aside from that, I worked with various social and math event planning. I also worked on campus for the school bookstore!
