David Sheldon

I’m David Sheldon, a lifelong learner and native Washingtonian. From the start, I had a knack for puzzles and tests—they sparked my passion for education. My academic journey began at St. Albans School, where I built a strong foundation in academics, athletics, and the arts. I excelled in football, sang in the chorus, and captained the chess team. At Beloit College, I immersed myself in Psychology and English, spent four years on the football field, and toured with my bands. Later, I earned a master’s degree in Education Administration and Policy Studies from George Washington University. After over a decade of experience as a teacher and administrator in DC’s private and public schools, I became a private tutor for students at the top Independent Schools throughout the DMV (DC, MD, and VA).

In my tutoring, I create a confident, supportive space where students thrive. My expertise in Math and English, combined with a tailored, adaptive approach, ensures that each session meets the unique needs of my students. I have a keen ability to connect with students, understanding how they think and identifying the teaching methods that work best for them. I’ve guided high-achieving students competing for spots at the world’s top colleges and universities, and I’ve also supported many students who face anxiety or require accommodations for ADHD. As a lifelong learner, I believe in the boundless potential within every student, and my mission is to guide them in realizing it. Whether tackling a complex math problem or sharpening English skills, I make learning enjoyable and highly effective, empowering students to achieve their best. The most rewarding part of my work is helping students fulfill their dreams.
