Meet Beth Dunn: Assistant Director of Advising.
As Top Score’s Assistant Director of Advising, I partner with prospective and current families to design customized academic programs for their children.
I began my career as a biology and chemistry teacher in Washington, DC, by way of Teach For America. I participated in numerous application-based programs to build my repertoire, including a Carnegie Fellowship where my Next Generation Science curriculum was published nationally. By my third year of teaching, I oversaw the tripling of student test scores on the biology state exam. Never one to stop learning, I spent many summers defining systems and leveraging my pedagogical expertise to train incoming first-year teachers at Teach For America Summer Institutes as a Corp Member Advisor and as the Directors of School Operations and Communications. As an Adjunct Professor at American University, I coached early career educators and served as a mentor both in and outside of the classroom.
In 2015, I joined DC Public Schools as a College and Career Coordinator in my pursuit to ensure DC students had every opportunity to build a postsecondary path that best served their needs and desires. I went on to serve as a Director at HD Woodson STEM High School where I successfully designed and launched a nationally recognized Academy, established long-term internship partnerships and evaluated and monitored postsecondary trajectories for thousands of students in Washington, DC. As a consultant with PathForward Partners, I supported schools, districts and states in designing and executing postsecondary pathway programs.
I hold a bachelors of science and a bachelors of arts from the University of Illinois and a masters in education from American University. My goal is to ensure all students have tailored support in defining their goals and next steps for once they graduate high school.
If you need any assistance or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at BethD@topscoreedu.com. I am here to help and support you in any way I can.
