Christina Bircsak

I am an AP Calculus BC teacher in Montgomery County Public Schools with a deep passion for math instruction. I aim to spread that passion by making learning fun and exciting. My own journey with math wasn’t always easy. I was actually tutored in math while in middle school! The extra hours I spent learning the subject sparked a genuine interest in me, ultimately leading me to pursue and earn a degree in mathematics at the University of Maryland. Now, I bring that same energy and empathy to my classroom. I want my students to love math not just as a means to a grade, but for the creativity, logic, and satisfaction it brings. Sharing that joy and helping students build confidence in STEM is the most rewarding part of what I do.

My teaching and tutoring style centers around building on the foundations students already have, no matter how small. I believe that confidence grows when students feel their existing knowledge is valued, so I design my sessions to scaffold new material in a way that feels both manageable and exciting. I strive to make math feel connected, linking concepts across different levels to deepen understanding and spark curiosity. Just as important as the math itself is how students feel while learning it; I work hard to create an environment where they enjoy the process and feel proud of their progress. With years of experience in the classroom, I know that strong relationships and trust are key to meaningful learning. My end goal for students is to give them the knowledge and confidence in math so they can go out and succeed in school and beyond!
