Meet Isabella DeCarlo: Senior SAT & ACT Tutor.
I have been passionate about education for as long as I can remember, and I love to help students meet their academic and personal goals as a full-time professional tutor. I grew up and attended high school on Long Island, NY, before moving to North Carolina to study at Duke University. I began tutoring in high school and continued cultivating my love for education at Duke, where I completed the Secondary Teacher Preparation Program to receive a secondary English Language Arts teaching license.
My approach to tutoring focuses on centering instruction around the student and their individual skills, needs, and goals. It is important for me to make meaningful connections with each student to better understand their educational situation and personal goals so that I can use this critical information to inform instruction. In my experience, students learn best when they feel respected, valued, and involved with the content, so creating a relationship based on these ideals is very important to my tutoring practice. I also find it important to communicate and teach ideas in multiple formats/styles to ensure that students have a deep understanding of the material.
