Kara Wilcox

I am a Georgetown University graduate, where I studied Women’s and Gender Studies, minored in Mathematics, and completed the pre-medical curriculum. Some of my favorite experiences in college came from teaching as an EMT instructor, CPR instructor, and ambulance driver trainer. Studying for the MCAT reinforced the value of sustained review, targeted practice, and approaching challenging concepts from multiple angles. I am excited to use what I learned from my experience and share it with my students.

As a tutor, I aim to create an encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and saying when something is not clicking. Instead of just providing the right answer, I focus on foundational understanding. I diagnose where a student’s comprehension breaks down, bridge the gap with their existing knowledge, and tailor my instruction to their unique learning style. My goal is for students to build both mastery of the material and the confidence to tackle the content independently!
