I am the Lead Tutor for Top Score’s Study Skills Boost program, a customizable, one-on-one academic coaching program that helps students learn organization, time and task management, and self-advocacy skills. Typically, I meet with Boost students weekly for 75 minutes to review grades and assignments, schedule upcoming action items, and create a plan for the week ahead, which includes peer studying, teacher hours, or extra study measures to buttress weaker subjects.

I recently moved back to the DMV after living in Honolulu, Hawai’i for the last seven years, having taught grades 8-12 social studies at an all-girls school, as well as organizing experiential education programs around Asia. Currently, I am a 5th grade English Language teacher for DC Public Schools. I am a passionate educator with over a decade of teaching experience, which has allowed me to understand that study skills and organizational practices are teachable skills and crucial prerequisites to academic success at any grade level.

Aside from my work as our Boost Lead Tutor, I also serve as our Director of Proctoring. In this role, I lead the planning and administration of all of Top Score’s SAT and ACT in-person practice tests. I am a proud graduate of the American University School of International Service (MA, International Relations) and Gonzaga University (MA, International Studies). I look forward to getting to know your student and assisting them with the next step in their academic achievement. You will find I provide the firm structure and clear expectations they must have, but also the compassion and support they need to build a trusting relationship.
