Mary Tippens

I went to Celina High School in Texas. I was voted both President of the Honor Society and Class Clown in high school. I recently got my Masters at Temple University studying how people teach and learn in academic settings which I apply everyday at Top Score. I have tutored professionally for over 12 years and focused almost exclusively on SAT/ACT preparation for the last 7 years.

As a tutor, I am known for being upbeat and enthusiastic in my sessions. I try to portray failure as a part of learning that should not be viewed as a disappointment but as an essential part that shows a student is pushing past previous knowledge or habitual barriers. I believe that tutoring and having expert guidance can be a key to unlocking extensive progress. My goal is to help each student approach learning as an exciting opportunity and help them significantly progress in their content knowledge and studying habits. The result being that their SAT/ACT scores increase, opening up opportunities for them in terms of colleges or scholarships.
