Mary Tippens

I went to Celina High School in Texas. I was voted both President of the Honor Society and Class Clown in high school. I recently got my Master’s at Temple University, studying how people teach and learn in academic settings, which I apply every day at Top Score. I have tutored professionally for over 12 years and focused almost exclusively on SAT/ACT preparation for the last 7 years.

As a tutor, I am known for being upbeat and enthusiastic in my sessions. I try to portray failure as a part of learning that should not be viewed as a disappointment but as an essential part that shows a student is pushing past previous knowledge or habitual barriers. I believe that tutoring and expert guidance can be key to unlocking significant progress. My goal is to help each student approach learning as an exciting opportunity and make significant progress in their content knowledge and study habits. The result being that their SAT/ACT scores increase, opening up opportunities for them in terms of colleges or scholarships.
