Meet Matthew Xue: SAT & ACT Tutor.
As a NOVA native and a Langley High School graduate, I know firsthand the stress DMV students face when trying to achieve an excellent SAT score in this extremely competitive area of the US. I’ve been an avid test-taker all my life with superb scores in the PSAT, SAT, GMAT, and LSAT, with plans to also take the MCAT in the future. I have years of experience tutoring students independently across a wide range of subjects. My learning approach comes from a position of understanding not only the test itself, but of empathy and communication.
Non-judgmental communication is the core of my teaching philosophy. Too often, a student’s problem-solving gets cut short by three words: “I don’t know.” Even if they don’t have the final answer yet, stopping there completely shuts down their potential to figure it out. Through open communication, I help students talk through their logic using their own natural way of thinking. My goal isn’t to impose my learning style on them, but to adapt my teaching to match how their brain already works.
Students need to be challenged, but they also need to stay confident. Keeping that perfect balance is essential to how I teach. I want students to actually enjoy pushing their boundaries and going above and beyond, and helping them find that motivation is what I do best.
