Patrick Losique

I’m a native of Northern Virginia who recently moved back from Colorado. I attended Colorado School of Mines and taught STEM at a middle school in the rocky mountains afterwards. Looking for a more personal approach to teaching, I began tutoring. I like figuring out how an individual learns and tailoring my teaching to it.

As a tutor, I give space for students to express their own thoughts. I teach students to be confident when they know they’re right and to confidently admit when they’re confused. Likewise, I guide rather than lecture. I ask leading questions to help students reach the right answer and solve problems independently in the future. Lastly, my goal is for students to be able to look at problems from different perspectives. If I notice a student struggling on a particular problem, I’ll present several variations on it. This helps students expand beyond rote memorization and towards understanding a subject in full.
