Meet Shane Harris: High School History Tutor.
A lifelong adventurer born and raised in Reno, Nevada. I come from a family of educators and wanted to bring history to life through education. I chose a different path and moved to Guangzhou, China in 2013 where I ran my own education consultancy business and started the first historical walking tour company in the city. For 7 years, I led tours around the city and the province while building American-style curricula for Chinese students going to the US for study, including several AP History courses. Currently, I live in DC where I’ve continued combining history education and tourism as a private tour guide and manager for tour operators.
As a tutor, I leverage my extensive teaching experience and hands-on learning approach with each student. I believe that collaboration with students is the most effective way to achieve desired results. Together, we create an atmosphere conducive for learning, identify gaps in knowledge and skills understanding and work together to find a teaching style best suited for students to learn. History is best taught when you can connect the dots from the past to the present.
