Shannon Vanelli

I am a passionate educator who loves helping students grow into confident, capable learners. I was my high school valedictorian and earned my B.S. in Economics and Finance from Duke University. After five years in New York City working in Corporate Strategy at financial institutions, I returned to North Carolina and am pursuing my Master of Arts in Teaching at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I love helping students reach their full potential throughout their academic journey and as they navigate college admissions and standardized testing.

As a tutor, I bring a thoughtful and practical approach to each session, drawing on my background in both education and finance. I deliver personalized instruction aligned with each student’s needs and work to reinforce classroom learning. No matter the subject or age group, I aim to end each session with a clear “so what,” helping students connect what they’re learning to meaningful, real-life applications. My goal is to create an environment where students feel comfortable taking intellectual risks, thinking independently, and defining success on their own terms.
