Meet Tim Fargino: AP United States History Tutor.
I have been an AP U.S. History teacher and tutor for six years, supporting hundreds of students in preparing for this exam. In addition to my teaching and tutoring experience, I have attended the AP U.S. History Summer Institute, the official training provided by the College Board. For the past four years, I have also served as an official grader for AP U.S. History exams, giving me expert knowledge of the exact structure students must master. I have spent over 300 hours grading these exams and have evaluated every category (SAQ/LEQ/DBQ).
Originally from Buffalo, New York, I currently live in Columbia, South Carolina, where I teach multiple sections of AP U.S. History at a local high school. As a tutor, I create an environment that connects course topics to current events or trends, making the material more relatable. I am very outgoing and energetic, which helps build rapport with my students. I encourage questions and prioritize communication. My goal in teaching is to ensure that students not only understand history but also take ownership of it.

Graduated 4.0, top 5% of the program. I became interested in literacy instruction as an undergrad. While in the classroom, fluency rates and reading capabilities stuck out as I was trying to teach historical themes and analyze primary sources. This allowed me to stay in history, but also help students attain better comprehension of material.
