Meet Tom Nicewicz: High School Math & Science Tutor.
I hold degrees in Mathematics and Physics from Washington & Jefferson College (W&J) and have a deep appreciation for the elegance of these subjects. My academic journey began in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, where I graduated as salutatorian in 2016 with a perfect SAT math score. As captain of the track & field, cross country, and math teams, I developed leadership and mentorship skills that continue to shape my teaching approach.
Through a full scholarship from the American Field Service, I spent a year studying in Fribourg, Switzerland, at the intersection of the French- and German-speaking regions. Immersed in the Swiss education system, I gained a new perspective on mathematics, emphasizing rigorous theoretical foundations. I continued my physics studies at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, where I mastered French, completed the prestigious Cours des Mathématiques Spéciales, and later served as a volunteer coach, guiding new students through advanced mathematical concepts.
Upon transferring to W&J in 2019, I embraced the American academic environment and found great fulfillment in tutoring my peers. My teaching philosophy prioritizes deep comprehension over rote memorization. I tailor my approach to each student’s unique learning style, ensuring that complex concepts become intuitive and accessible.
Whether you’re preparing for advanced studies in theoretical physics or simply aiming to pass a test, I’m committed to helping you achieve your academic goals. I emphasize problem-solving techniques that build logical connections, fostering confidence and independence in learning. Together, we’ll have plenty of fun reaching your goals.
